Comba Network and KLA Laboratories Deliver High-Performance Wireless Network to New Automotive Facility in Mexico
New wireless network enables high efficiency vehicle testing and improves testing efficiency for engineers
Comba Network Systems Company Limited ("Comba Network"), a subsidiary of Comba Group, has partnered with KLA Laboratories, Inc., a leading information technology integration firm headquartered in Michigan, USA, to provide a full turnkey solution to a world-renowned automotive manufacturer for their newly inaugurated production facility in Mexico. This marks the first time both companies have designed and delivered a project of such importance to the automotive manufacturer, which aims to achieve high efficiency in its testing and production processes.
To meet the high-performance requirements set by the client, Comba Network's flagship ComFlex Pro Distributed Antenna System with both low power and high power radios was used to deliver seamless 4G connectivity inside the client's facility, creating a high capacity multi-band and multi-service wireless network that supports AWS, 700MHz, 1900MHz, and 2600MHz. As a result, the mobile network created can support different types of tests performed by the customer engineering team along the automotive manufacturing line, improving operational efficiency.
Comba Mexico and local partners were responsible for the design, installation, and commissioning of the complete system. The project was divided into two phases, with the first phase targeting the office buildings and the surrounding facilities recently completed by the parties. The second phase of the project, focused on providing mobile coverage to the parking lots and the football field, is expected to begin soon and be completed by the end of 2023.
According to Jorge Colmenares, Executive Director of Comba Mexico, the project was extremely challenging due to its size and required precise planning of the implementation. The RF system design and coverage simulation needed to be detailed and accurate to meet the strict quality standards required by the company. Colmenares added that the highly professional team, together with the KLA team and the local partner, completed the deployment on schedule while meeting performance targets and preserving the aesthetics of the areas where the equipment was installed. He also highlighted that this project was the result of a long-term and successful partnership between Comba and KLA.
Mark Woloszyn, Manager of DAS Solutions at KLA Laboratories, expressed his pride in being a part of such a major transformation for one of their long-standing customers. He added that KLA, along with Comba Network, worked to ensure the solution met facility requirements and could withstand future needs. KLA was in charge of vetting vendors and products for the project, along with designing the facility's DAS solution.
This project is one of the most recent success cases at KLA Laboratories and demonstrates the company's ability to deliver complex solutions for its clients.
